Personal Bio
I was born and raised in Belton, Missouri and was on a wrestling mat before I could even walk. Although I dreamed of an NFL career, knowing my dad had been drafted by the Washington Redskins, my main sport while growing up was wrestling. My dad started a little league wrestling program in our community, and my mom drove me to all the practices and used to sit in the gym every Saturday to support me. I continued to wrestle throughout high school and won the state championship as a heavyweight my senior year.

My dad wanted me to wait until sixth grade to start playing football. I was used to grueling wrestling camps, so when I started attending football training camps, I was ready for the challenge. I kept playing throughout high school, and also competed in track and tennis. During my senior year, Missouri State offered me a football scholarship, so I moved to Springfield and played for the Bears while achieving a degree in Dietetics and a minor in Exercise Science. In 2000, I was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the seventh round.

I began dating my wife Michelle in high school and we continued our relationship during our college years. In 2001, I proposed at the Bengals stadium during a TV show called “Kiss the Bride,”  hosted by Chuck Woolery. We were married six weeks later. Our first son, Lance, was born in 2003 and our next, Kellen, came in 2005. Lance is our “little rock star” – he loves to sing and entertain, and Kellen is already taking after Dad with his athleticism and interest in sports.
